What is a doula?
"Doula" is a Greek word meaning woman
servant. A doula mothers the mother during pregnancy, labor,
birth and postpartum. Becoming a new mother is a sensitive and
life changing time in a woman's life. A birth doula provides
emotional, informational, and physical support to women and their partners during labor and birth. A postpartum
doula continues providing emotional support and guidance to new
families in the first days, weeks or months after their baby has
arrived.
