I am a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. I teach dynamic and interactive individual and group childbirth classes. These classes will provide you with evidence based information about how to have the healthiest and safest birth possible. You will learn approaches to manage pain and make childbirth less complicated. You will leave feeling informed so that you can be a part of decision making around your care.
My classes consist of a combination of group interactive activities, individual couple discussion time and practice of comfort measures and positions.
Some of the topics that are covered in the classes include:
- Pregnancy changes and comfort measures
- Anatomy and physiology of labor and birth
- Non-medical comfort measures for labor
- Partner's role in labor
- Medical pain relief options
- Possible interventions involved with birth
- Informed consent and decision making
- Communicating with your care provider to get the information you need
- Breastfeeding
- Infant care
- Postpartum expectations
Current Class Offerings
Complete Childbirth Preparation ~ $130
A two hour class for six consecutive weeks. This class will fully prepare you for your birth and caring for your new baby. These classes are held in my East Lansing home. Class Series running Monday evenings from 7-9pm starting April 20th.
Private Childbirth Preparation ~ $160
Two-two hour classes. This intimate class will be designed to meet the needs of the expectant woman and her partner. They can be scheduled for a time and location convenient to all involved.
Refresher Course ~ $50
This class is perfect for parents who have previous childbirth experience. The class will thoroughly review signs of labor, comfort measures, labor positions and partner's role. This is a two hour class for two consecutive weeks, held in my East Lansing home.
