As a birth doula, I accompany women in labor to help them achieve their goal of a safe and satisfying birth experience. I will respect your decisions and support you to my fullest in facilitating the kind of birth you have envisioned for yourself.
Before labor I provide:
- At least two prenatal visits
- Assistance with preparing a birth plan
- Unlimited phone support
- A lending library of books and videos
During labor I provide:
- Early labor phone support
- Continuous, uninterrupted support when you feel you need my services
- Ideas for and assistance with non-pharmaceutical comfort measures
- Emotional support and encouragement
- Assistance communicating with care providers to make sure you have the information you need to make informed decisions about your care
- Assistance for your partner in ways to support you
After the birth I will:
- Remain with you for at least the first hour to two hours.
- Provide breastfeeding support and assistance
- Speak with you over the phone to answer questions
- Meet with you twice for postpartum follow-up in order to check on your well-being, go over the events of your birth, and provide any information or referrals that you may need.
