Serving the Lansing, Michigan area
My husband, James, and I have a spirited 5 year old girl, a 4 year old son who is bounding with energy and another sweet baby boy born in November of 2008. My children's births were each completely different experiences which taught me a lot about myself and birth in general. I was blessed to have the support of a doula for my middle child's birth which was what confirmed my desires to become a doula myself.
I have been interested in birth for as long as I can remember. In 2006, following the births of my first two children, I found that I wanted to pursue that interest as a doula and childbirth educator. I view birth as a normal and natural life event. In working with women who are preparing for and giving birth, it is my goal to help preserve birth as a positive and empowering experience. I love helping women find the inner strength and power they use to birth their babies.
After I began my work as a birth doula, I decided to pursue my certification as a postpartum doula. Parenthood is a major life transition and having the support of others can make that transition easier. By becoming a postpartum doula I hope to provide a support to families that they may not have otherwise received.
I am a member of Lamaze International, DONA International, and BirthNetwork National. I am certified as a birth doula through DONA and as a Childbirth Educator through Lamaze International. I am trained as a postpartum doula through DONA, as well.
